Episode IV: A New Rooftop

It is a period of bad weather. Our new indoor meeting room, striking from the rooftop, has won its first victory against the torrential tropic rain.
If you've gone to an event at Cecemuwe in the last 6+ years, you may have experienced our rooftop. Maybe you sat on our tiny patch of grass pretending you were at a picnic instead of 15 minutes away from Sudirman. Maybe you attended a workshop. Maybe you celebrated a birthday. Maybe your dog participated in an eating contest. Or even a wedding.
We've been fortunate to witness so many important moments in your lives, accompanied by a pink-orange sunset and a scenic, lush view of our neighborhood. However, the past few years, we've hit a roadblock that we can't solve: climate change.
One of the most personal impacts of climate change (other than the obvious crop failures around the planet, the scarcity of potable water, mass-dying of species, etc) that we feel daily at Cecemuwe is our rooftop space becoming less and less convenient for a meeting.
Rainy seasons have become a year-long season, with intermittent patches of extremely hot weather. Of course, it's not a big deal compared to the global impact it will have in the next few years, with scarcity looming over the horizon. However, we can only tackle what we can tackle: making it more comfortable for you at Cecemuwe, so you can have a nice, cozy space to think of solutions to climate change and make this world a better place.
So, we've decided to upgrade our rooftop into an indoor space, protected from the heat and the rain. (Now don't come at me, it's solar powered).
Rooftop 1, Weather 0. Finally!
Our semi-outdoor deck has now been transformed into a fully indoor meeting room and event space, while our beloved little rooftop lawn is staying exactly as it was, for your picnics during fair weather.
No more contingency plans, our rooftop is now fit for all weathers!
Now, whether you're planning a workshop, birthday dinner, community gathering, team meeting, or celebrating someone's engagement, your rooftop plans no longer depend on the weather app.
The new space still overlooks lush greenery all around, and our little rooftop lawn is still there for sunset girl picnics (or pretending you're not in the middle of South Jakarta).
Inside, we've leaned into homey Indonesian-inspired design: rich wood tones, minimalist decor, warm lighting, and an antique gebyok ripped straight from the walls of my house. Mi casa, su casa.
We can guarantee a beautiful, cozy venue with a view like no other. Accompanied by wholesome meals (you know you miss our Fish and Chips), and a cup of iced coffee, you can tackle any event successfully.

Now, let's get to the details.
Our indoor rooftop comfortably seats 18 guests around one table, making it ideal for board meetings, strategy sessions, creative workshops, book clubs, or long overdue catch-ups with 17 of your friends. Or a sweet seventeen.
If you're thinking of doing a standing event, or you would like to add seats all around the edges of the room, we can even accommodate 30 guests in the indoor space.
For larger celebrations, don't worry! Use of our rooftop space includes both the indoor meeting room and the rooftop lawn, giving everyone room to mingle without compromising their personal space.

Honestly, it's a beautiful rooftop with ample space and a great menu to get you through the day, so I'm sure you can make it work to your specifications. Am I hyping up our own rooftop? Yes! But it really deserves the hype. We've managed to stick to our mission to create a community-friendly space so you can live your best life, but we've made it so much better than before.
You know how it is at Cecemuwe. We're all about wholesome things: wholesome food, wholesome drinks, wholesome hospitality, and a wholesome community. Our experienced events team will happily help you set up your event at Cecemuwe.
That means when you host an event here, your guests are walking into a wholesome experience: specialty coffee, comfort food, friendly faces, and hopefully a dog or two somewhere around the café.
(We can't guarantee the dogs. They have surprisingly busy schedules.)
Our event spaces also work a little differently. Instead of charging a room rental fee, bookings are based on a minimum food and beverage spend, making it easier to host everything in one place.

As you may have guessed by the tinge of paint smell in our building, we are also upgrading the rest of our spaces gradually. I think we may need a makeover after 7 years in service, as it's time to replace broken furnitures (please please please don't jump on the benches again), refresh the vibes, and upgrade our amenities to suit current needs.
